Final circuit of the 2026 European Cycling Championships
This is the circuit that decides everything. On 4 October 2026, the world's best road cyclists including defending champion Tadej Pogačar — will tackle this 21.1 km final loop five times in the men's elite race. You can ride it today. The loop starts and finishes in Šenčur, winding through the municipalities of Preddvor and Cerklje na Gorenjskem beneath the Kamnik–Savinja Alps. The defining moment comes at Možjanca: a sharp 2.1 km climb at 10.2% average gradient, rising from Tupaliče to the hilltop village. After the summit, the road rolls through Štefanja Gora before a long descent back to Šenčur. It is not a long route. But Možjanca is the kind of climb that splits races and riders. The final 200 metres are the steepest, with no immediate descent to recover on. Expect your legs to still be working hard well after the top. All 14 races of the European Cycling Championships finish here. From under-23 women to men's elite, from road races to time trials. The road races start in Ljubljana, but the winner is always decided on this loop. The men's elite ride it five times, the women three times, under-23 men four times. The time trial course is identical to the final loop, 22 km including the ascent over Možjanca. This is not a classic flat time trial for specialists. The UEC deliberately encouraged the organisers to design a more demanding course, which means a more open result and greater opportunities for riders who perform well in the hills. Everyone, from junior women to men's elite, rides the same course. Možjanca is therefore the decisive climb of the entire championship, not just the road races.
